North South Ohio Classic 2010

For the first time in the history of the Ohio North-South Classic, the game will be played on a Friday night. The kickoff is tonight at 7 pm in Ohio Stadium and starts a great weekend of Spring football at the Ohio State campus which ends with the Buckeye Spring Game tomorrow at 1pm. Five Ohio State 2010 recruits will be playing in the game including Darryl Baldwin, Christian Bryant, JT Moore, Tyrone Williams, and Verlon Reed.

This will be the 65th annual North-South Classic which used to be played on Saturday in mid-June here in Central Ohio. The movement of the Big 33 game to June from July created a conflict and led to many players being unable to play in the Ohio Classic. The rescheduling to April provides for many of the top talent in the state to compete against each other prior to their senior years ending. The Ohio State Band will perform pre-game and at the half time of the game which will be a nice feature for those in attendance.

In addition to the 5 players from Ohio State, Michigan will have 5 recruits on the two teams, Cincinnati will feature 5 recruits and Notre Dame has one recruit playing tonight. The coaches will be Tom Lombardo (Medina Highland) and Mark Crabtree (Dublin Coffman). The game will be broadcasted in high definition locally on SportsTime Ohio. Tickets are only $5 at the gate. Should be a really nice night of football for the players and Buckeye fans alike.
