Ohio State Buckeyes v Akron Zips Week
Ohio State hosts Akron this Saturday at 7:40 p.m. in Ohio Stadium, as the Buckeyes look to improve their defensive woes.
Akron could be the ideal opponent at the ideal time. The Zips are 1-2, with their lone victory coming against Bryant last week, which they won 35-14. Akron was defeated by Auburn 60-10 and Temple 45-24. Some consider Akron to be the worst team in Division 1 football.
CJ Stroud Not To Play
Ohio State Buckeye quarterback C.J. Stroud will not be the starting QB on Saturday against Akron, coach Ryan Day told fans on his weekly radio show today. Some feel this could open the door for Jack Miller or Kyle McCord to take over the program. But the team is saying that nothing will change after this week and Stroud will continue to be the starter.
According to Day, Stroud is nursing a shoulder injury, and the coaching staff felt that a week of rest would benefit the redshirt freshman as the Big Ten conference schedule approaches. Stroud was suffering from the same injury prior to the Tulsa game a week ago.
LB Dallas Gant Enters the Transfer Portal
Dallas Gant, an Ohio State reserve linebacker, has entered the NCAA transfer portal and has left the team.
Gant, a senior who has played in all three games this season and 38 overall in his Ohio State career, entered his name into the portal on Tuesday. He has a total of 53 tackles in his career, including two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and 3.5 tackles for loss. He is hoping to be picked up and be eligible for next season. He would have 2 years of college football remaining thanks to the new Covid 19 eligibility rules.
Gant, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 232 pounds, made the most of his contributions during the 2019 season.
RB TreVeyon Henderson Signs Deal with Arbys
TreVeyon Henderson had a breakout performance in Ohio State's win over Tulsa. He now has a new Name, Image, and Likeness deal.
The freshman is joining Arby's as it launches a new campaign called Arby's RBs. The national fast-food chain will sponsor the first 200 running backs who sign up and successfully post about the deal on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #TonightImGettingArbys. He will reportedly receive $500 and a some Arby's swag.
Ohio State Falls in AP Poll after Tulsa
Ohio State fell one spot to No. 10 in the most recent Associated Press college football poll, which was released on Sunday.
On Saturday, the Buckeyes defeated Tulsa 41-20. TreVeyon Henderson, a freshman running back, set a freshman rushing record with 277 yards in the game.
Larry Johnson Looking for Pass Rush
Head Coach Day said the offensive line needs to do a better job of making quarterbacks feel uncomfortable in the pocket, and given that Ohio State has only 4 sacks through 3 games (22 teams in the country have fewer) it's simple to see.
Larry Johnson, the defensive line coach, cannot sleep when his team isn't able get pressure on the quarterback. So he is considering changing personnel and putting the right people on the field to get the job done this coming weekend.

No 3 Ohio State v No 11 Oregon
Saturday September 11th 2021 at Noon on FOX
Oregon Ducks (1-0) @ Ohio State Buckeyes (1-0)
Oregon Against Fresno State
Oregon, a Pac 12 top contender, began the season going up against Fresno State, coming out on top 31-24. They were evenly balanced with 172 yards passing and 186 yards rushing. Running back CJ Verdell ran 18 times for 74 yards and a touchdown. Receiver Johnny Johnson III caught 3 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. They didn’t allow Fresno State to run much, only 76 yards. But the Bulldogs got them for 298 yards through the air.
Ohio State Last Weekend
Being an Ohio State fan, you know the Buckeyes beat Big Ten in conference Minnesota 45-31 last Thursday. Quarterback CJ Stroud passed for 294 yards and 4 touchdowns. Miyan Williams ran 9 times for 125 yards and a touchdown. While Chris Olave was in good form with 4 receptions for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Ohio State is considered a 14.5 favorite to win in the Horseshoe in this out of conference important contest.
How Oregon Can Compete
Oregon might try to control the clock by running the ball a lot like Minnesota did, but Ohio State can score quickly. Quarterback Anthony Brown could do a decent job of moving the ball on the ground. And the Ducks have a better defense than the Golden Gophers with Kayvon Thibodeaux on the edge, but not enough to win this one.

Louisiana G Cedric Russell Transfers for Buckeyes
With Duane Washington Jr leaving Ohio State for the NBA draft recently, the Buckeyes were looking for a guard to add to the roster and found Louisiana Lafayette 6’2” guard Cedric Russell. He will be eligible for the 2021-2022 basketball season at Ohio State. He is a transfer who completed four years for the Ragin Cajuns in the Sub Belt conference.
Cedric Russell Sharp Shooter
A sharp shooter from 3 point range, he made 40% from behind the arc, placing him in the top 20 nationally at the division I level. Russell’s average points per game increased over the last three years from 11.4 to 14.4 to 17.2, in his final year. He was also looking at St Johns, Marquette, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma as new destinations.
Russell seems quite enthusiastic about his final two years of college ball being played at a major Big Ten program like OSU.
Ohio State Men’s Basketball 2021-2022
Ohio State’s 2021 season begins against Akron on November 9th. Chris Holtmann also added guard Jamari Wheeler from Penn State for the upcoming season, a player that is known for defense. Wheeler replaces point guard CJ Walker on the roster who graduated at end of last season.

Duane Washington Jr's Departure From The Buckeyes
Duane Washington Jr has declared that he is planning on leaving Ohio State for the NBA Draft effective immediately. All Ohio State basketball fans are waiting to see where Duane Washington Jr will get drafted or will he be an international star like David Lighty. He would have been a senior next season at Ohio State. Take a look at his career in the basketball program and prospects to decide for yourself if you will be a first-round pick:
Duane Washington Jr's College Stats
From the moment he put on a Buckeyes jersey, Duane has been beloved by Ohio fans across the state and country. Now, it's time to look at Duane Washington Jr's stats to see if he has lived up to the hype. For a basketball player, threat and versatility, it's Duane Washington Jr that decides the outcome of the game. Duane Jr stands at 6-3 and 210 pounds with tremendous physical tools that were developed during his prime playing days in high school basketball. He played three years at Ohio State with his minutes per game increasing each year along with his average points per game, 7 in 2018 to 16.4 in 2020. His assists per game steadily rose from 1.1 as a freshman to 2.9 in his 3rd year. He was also able to grab more rebounds per game, finishing with 3.4 a game as a Junior.
Chances of Being a First-Round Pick For Duane Washington Jr
You've heard about the massive transformation that Duane Washington Jr. is implementing with his basketball game. He shot 41.0% from the field last year and was the the most consistent player for Chris Holtmann as a junior. And with an incredibly athletic build and high basketball IQ---Washington could be a devastating scorer for any team that drafts him. Therefore, it is likely that teams that are rebuilding their bench will sign him in the upcoming draft. If teams do pass on him in the second round, you can be sure to see him on a NBA G league roster next year.
How Wise Was It For Duane Washington Jr To Declare for the draft
It is not every day a player leaves the school in the midst of his final year of eligibility. When Duane Washington Jr originally committed to Ohio State, there was a big celebration by Buckeye fans. He also posed for pictures next to a poster of himself wearing an Ohio State jersey. This then led him to work out with his future teammates, including Keita Bates Diop and C.J. Jackson. Recently he made himself eligible for the NBA draft but still leave open the possibility of returning to the Buckeyes. But late June saw him take the final step and remain in the draft ending his college career.
Scouts feel that he is an above average athlete that sometimes takes questionable shots. That he is a good shooter and excellent from the foul line but does not tend to draw fouls. He handles the ball well but did not produce the assists they would like to see in a college guard. And that he is good at defensive but could improve his focus and rebounding.

Wide Receiver Kaleb Brown Attends NFA 7v7
2022 All-American Kaleb Brown spent June working out at the NFA (National Football Association) 7v7 tournament.
The 5’11” 180 lbs. wide receiver from Chicago Illinois is considered the 5th best at his position in the country and a four star recruit. He is a selection for the 2022 All American Bowl on January 8th on NBC from San Antonio Texas.
Brown recently committed to play college football after Ohio State after being recruited by over 19 schools including Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida and Alabama. He has a relationship with two Wolverine teammates in AJ Henning and JJ McCarthy which led some to believe that he would end up in Ann Arbor. But Brian Hartline has kept constant contact with the highly sought after player and landed the deal.
Kaleb Brown At The Slot
Brown was featured as a tailback at Saint Rita High School but is projected to play slot receiver at the next level. Being a little different than the number of top rated receivers OSU has secured over the past three years could help Brown find the field.
He can get separation with burst and quickness and has great hands. He is a possibility in the kick return game early in his time in Columbus.
Kaleb Brown Visits
Brown was on an official visit to Ohio State when he made his commitment to the school. He stated that his relationship with receivers coach Hartline was a major factor and being recruited during the dead period showed who was really serious.

Ryan Turner 2022 Ohio State Commit to Visit June 11th
Ryan Turner is considered one of South Florida’s best defensive backs. Rated a three star recruit and the 34th best nationally at the position. He adds to a strong 2022 class ranked 2 in the country and the top class in the Big Ten. Kye Stokes, Jaheim Singletary and Jyaire Brown are already part of the class at defensive back.
Turner picked Ohio State over offers from Penn State, Clemson and Boston College. He had 27 scholarship offers before he made the commitment to the Buckeyes on May 5th 2021.
Why Ryan Turner
At 6’0” 180lbs. he’s a physical back like Ohio State is always looking for.
Kerry Combs and Matt Barnes went after Turner after a junior season that only provided stats of 16 tackles and 1 interception. His stock has risen over the Winter months.
Turner has great speed, ability to make tackles, ball skills, and good strength.
What Turner Means for Ohio State
Ohio State had an outstanding 2021 defensive backfield class. With Turner now in the 2022 class, they turn to add one more at the position from either Toriano Pride or Jayden Bellamy. Both Pride and Bellamy are planning visits to Columbus this coming month on June 11th.

Ohio State Players In The 2021 NFL Draft
Justin Fields - 1st Round - 11th Pick to the Bears
Justin Fields will be the first selection from Ohio State in the 2021 NFL Draft. Many different predictions on where he will be selected. Could go to the Detroit Lions at the 7th pick or all the way down to the 32nd pick with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he would sit behind Tom Brady for a couple of years. Picking a quality NFL quarterback in the draft is often a coin flip with 50% of the selections not working out. Trevor Lawrence from Clemson and Zach Wilson from Brigham Young will probably be the top 2 quarterback selections with Alabama quarterback Mac Jones also being considered higher than Fields.
Ohio State Players to Also Be Drafted
Guard Wyatt Davis – 3rd Round - 86th Pick to the Vikings
Linebacker Pete Werner – 2nd Round - 60th Pick to the Saints
Cornerback Shaun Wade – 5th Round 160th Pick to Ravens
Center Josh Myers – 2nd Round - 62nd Pick to the Packers
Running Back Trey Sermon – 3rd Round 88th Pick to 49ers
Defensive Tackle Tommy Togiai – 4th Round 132nd Pick to Browns

Ohio State Spring Football 2021
After a fall unlike any other in football history, plenty of Ohio State football fans look forward to the 2021 Spring Game. Now that it is less than a month away (currently scheduled for April 17), fans are starting to wonder if this will be their first time getting a glimpse of the team in person in over a year. Plans are still up in the air a bit, but this is what we know so far about the game.
Will fans be allowed at the Ohio State Spring Football Game?
Thanks to relaxed restrictions in the state of Ohio and by the Big Ten, attendance is coming back in some capacity for spring sports. That means Ohio State football will be able to take advantage of these new rules as well. Attendance policies are most related to local health guidelines, so for Ohio, that means teams can have up to 30% capacity.
How does that equate to Ohio Stadium? That means roughly 15,000 to 20,000 fans can enter the stadium and watch the Spring Game. That total number might still seem like a bit of a disappointment for many eager fans, but it is a step in the right direction to get back to some level of normal.
It seems as though Ohio State will wait until as close to the game as possible to decide how many fans are allowed in and who will have that opportunity to attend. At this time, it looks promising, but there's nothing official as of yet.
How will tickets be handled if fans are allowed?
Much like during the 2020 fall season, the attendance restrictions for spring games all around the Big Ten will almost certainly allow families to attend the game. This might expand to frontline workers as the next beneficiaries, and the remaining spots could open up to fans of the team with no personal connection.
Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith originally said that there would be no tickets sold to the spring game, so families and frontline workers are possibly looking at free tickets. While that's certainly beneficial, if tickets are open to the public, Ohio State might sell them with so much demand out there. Another possibility is to hold some sort of lottery for the remaining spots.
When is the game, and will there be a way to watch it for free?
As the April 17th date approaches, it seems more likely that it will stick as the annual Spring Game's official date for Ohio State football. Fans are always intrigued with this game, and there will be options for those who can't get into Ohio Stadium to watch. The last Spring Game held in 2019 was televised by the Big Ten Network. With so much still up in the air, it hasn't officially been announced that they will broadcast it again in 2021, but it would seem likely that would be the case if the schedule sticks.

Marcus Hooker Suspended After Second OVI Citation
Ohio State safety Marcus Hooker has been suspended by the Ohio State football program from the Buckeyes after he was cited for an OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired) early Saturday morning. This is Marcus Hooker's second off-the-field violation after an earlier OVI incident.
Marcus Hooker OVI
He was cited by the Columbus Police Department early Saturday morning, which is his second off-field incident. He signed with the Buckeyes some three years ago. A spokesperson for Ohio State confirmed that Hooker had been suspended indefinitely by the team and went on to say that no decision or timetable has been decided, or will be announced, about his return to the team.
Hooker was released and will be arraigned in Franklin County by the Prosecutors office on Friday, which marks the day that the his team mates are due to begin their spring practice. The police report states that Hooker refused a breathalyzer test after being pulled over and will be arraigned on a misdemeanor charge on Friday. This most recent Marcus Hooker OVI is his second. The fourth-year safety was also arrested in 2018 and charged with a DUI offence in Pennsylvania, his home state, before he began his Ohio State career. At that time he was also charged with careless driving, no rear lights and the purchase of alcohol by a minor. He was suspended by the Buckeyes for the season-opener at the time.
Marcus Hooker Bio
Hooker is the younger sibling of former Ohio State player and currently the NFL safety Malik Hooker. Marcus was rated a three-star recruit and was signed as part of the well-regarded 2018 class that was associated with high expectations. He began classes at Ohio State in 2018 and began playing in the summer of 2018 with the Buckeyes. Since then he has started in multiple games in the Ohio State secondary during his career.
Playing in 11 career games, Hooker has amassed a total of 23 tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery. He began the season as a starter in 2020 but did not manage to lock up the position and was eventually passed up in the depth chart.

Kenyatta Jackson Jr Predicted to be Clemson or Ohio State for 2022
Hollywood Florida defensive end Kenyatta Jackson Jr, one of the best in the class of 2022, is predicted to either commit to Clemson or Ohio State for their next recruiting class. The 6’5” 230 lbs. 4 star defensive lineman is considered the 6th best at his position and the 85 best overall for the class nationally. He is being recruited for Ohio State by Larry Johnson. Anna Hickey from Clemson247 has him going to Clemson while Gaby Urrutia of InsideTheU predicts he will commit to the Buckeyes.
What Kenyatta Jackson Offers
Jackson is recognized as a disruptive player at the defensive end position with a large wing-span and great hands. He can get to the quarterback and also pursues running backs just as easily. Comes from a family or NFL players with uncles and a grandfather all playing in the pros.

Ryan Day Announces 2021 Coaching Team Changes At Ohio State
Ryan Day, Ohio State head coach, announced that some changes in Ohio State coaches with Parker Fleming being promoted from quality control coach to special teams coordinator. This comes after Day's announcement late last month that Greg Mattison would be retiring. He was the Buckeyes co-defensive coordinator, leaving only one spot for Day to fill in his coaching staff.
Matt Barnes Defense Backs Coach
Matt Barnes has also been promoted to defensive backs coach from special teams coordinator/safeties coach which will free up defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs to work with the defense. Among the Ohio State coaches, Day said that Matt Barnes has done an excellent job in special teams and has a great background on defense and considers him a great young coach (Barnes is only 34).
He also said he was excited at the changes and with Barnes spending his time with the secondary (though still helping with special teams) as he wanted continuity with special teams where he said the team had done a great job. Parker Fleming is someone that knows very well what we do, he continued, and said that he had earned the respect of the team.
Parker Fleming Quality Control Coach
Fleming, 31, has been at Ohio State for the last three seasons as quality control coach and was a graduate assistant in 2012&13 at OSU. He is a native of Atlanta, Ga., and was a quarterback at Presbyterian College from 2007 to 2009. He began his coaching career coaching quarterbacks in 2010 after which he took his talents to Columbus, Ohio where he was the quarterback coach at Capital University in 2011.
This led to Fleming joining Urban Meyer's staff at Ohio State in 2012 working as a graduate assistant with offense and special teams a post he held for two seasons. In 2016 he moved to Texas State as special teams coordinator and wide receiver coach and in 2017 they him to offensive coordinator and special teams coach after which he returned to Ohio State in 2018 as a quality control coach while still working closely with special teams.
It has been revealed that Day is also expected to hire a veteran coach, that has previous experience as a head coach, as a defensive consultant for Ohio State. Day went on to say that no one will carry the 'co-defensive coordinator' title which Mattison did.

Sugar Bowl Ohio State v Clemson CFB Playoff
January 1st at 8pm Friday night on ESPN is the rematch of Ohio State vs Clemson in the College Football Playoff. This is the 2nd game of the semi-final round that night (The Rose Bowl is Alabama vs Notre Dame at 4pm). The Clemson Tigers are favored by 7 points with head coach Dabo Swinney notably voting for Ohio State to be ranked 11th in the country instead of their final placement of third.
Ohio State Still Getting Started
The Ohio State Buckeyes have only played 6 games this season compared to the eleven games that Clemson has played. No fault of their own, but they lack the experience of other teams from other conferences that didn’t sit out two months. Running back Trey Sermon just got going in the Big Ten championship game when in a normal season he would have 5 more productive games under his belt.
Hopefully Ohio State has their best game still in them and puts it out there on Friday in the CFB Playoff. Ohio State can have big run yards again this week, like they did against Northwestern, but they will need to put the ball in the end-zone and not settle for field goals to beat Clemson.
Clemson is Dangerous
Clemson can probably get a lot of yards receiving against the unexperienced secondary of Ohio state, who will most likely play soft coverage to keep the big time playmakers (Amari Rodgers, EJ Williams and Cornell Powell) in front of them. But within the 20 yard red-zone, the receiver advantage is diminished.

Ohio State Goes Into Big Ten Championship Without 21 Players
Number 4 Ohio State is about to kickoff the Big Ten Championship today at noon in Indianapolis (on FOX) but in a morning status report the Buckeyes reported that they will be without 21 players for the game. Ohio State went 5-0 in a shortened season while missing two games due to Covid 19 breakouts, one against Maryland and an OSU cancellation against Illinois. A late rule change made the team eligible for the Championship Game today but the team continues to have some issues, most notably is leading receiver Chris Olave.
NCAA Championship Playoff Birth
If the Buckeyes can win against number 14 Northwestern (6-1), and they are favored by 20.5 points, this will be their fourth straight Big Ten title. The Ohio State football team also played Michigan State without 23 players, still able to handle them without a problem. A win puts them into the mix for the 6 team NCAA playoff including the Rose Bowl.
Players that are unavailable include linebacker Baron Browning, running back Steele Chambers, punter Drue Chrisman, defensive end Tyler Friday, quarterback Gunnar Hoak, wide receiver Chris Olave, wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba, and many others.
New Targets for Just Fields
Olave is having a great season with 5 touchdowns and 528 yards on 36 receptions. Garrett Wilson and Jameson Williams will be the main targets today for quarter back Justin Fields with Olave out. Also look for receiver Demario McCall, tight end Jeremey Ruckert, and tight end Luke Farrell to be targets today.

Ohio State Football Back in Action against Michigan State Saturday at Noon
The 4-0 Ohio State Buckeyes are set to return to action this weekend against the Spartans of Michigan State (2-3). Kickoff time is noon with limited attendance in East Lansing Michigan. The game can be watched on ABC. Ohio State had to cancel their game last weekend against Illinois while their head coach Ryan Day will also miss this game after testing positive for Covid-19.
2020 College Football Playoffs
Ohio State is still hopeful of making the College Football Playoffs this season but need a little help from Michigan in playing them next week after they also are having Covid-19 tests spoil some of their season. If Ohio State can play their final two regular season games against Michigan State and Michigan, win them both, they will be eligible for the Big Ten Championship game the following week. But if one game is cancelled, the Buckeyes will not have met the 6 game requirement to play.
Michigan State Football
Michigan State had their best game so far last weekend beating Northwestern 29-20.
The Spartans have an outstanding linebacker coming after Justin Fields in Antjuan Simmons (Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week) who is 2nd in the conference with 10.6 tackles a game. The team is prone to get sacks and turn-overs, similar to Indiana. They got 4 sacks and 4 interceptions against the Wildcats last week. Mel Tucker returns to the Big Ten after coaching Colorado one year to lead Michigan State.
Michigan State’s main problem is at quarterback where Rocky Lombardi throws as many interceptions as touchdowns. He also is not able to complete many passes, just 11 for 27 last week. He does make up for the poor passing with his ability to run the ball, putting up 65 yards in the most recent win.
Why Ohio State Wins
Ohio State is a 24 point favorite in this game. Last time out, against Indiana, quarterback Justin Fields put up great numbers when discounting the 3 interceptions, with 378 yards and three touchdowns. Fields is leading the nation in passing percentage at 79.6%. Running Back Master Teague had one of his best games with 169 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Their receiving core is still looking very strong with sophomore Garrett Wilson having one of his best games at OSU two weeks ago. Chris Olave also had 100+ yards receiving against the Hoosiers.
