Seantrel Henderson Leaves USC Visits Miami

The news surrounded Seantrel Henderson this week has been around his decision to not enroll at USC, being released from his National Letter of Intent by USC, and spending the Fourth of July weekend in Miami visiting the Hurricanes. He will be able to play this coming year with the team that he selects now that his recruitment is wide open once again. Ohio State, at the top of his list in February, appears to have fallen off the list as no mention of the Buckeyes has come out the new search.

Henderson waited late March, after the national day to sign Letters of Intent, to fax his letter to the Trojans due in part to their unresolved NCAA sanctions. The new coaching staff at Southern California was able to convince the top rated offensive lineman that the school would not be sanctioned harshly when the NCAA made its decision later in the spring. When the decision came down that the school would lose thirty scholarships in addition to not being eligible to play in the next four post-seasons, it appears Henderson changed his mind and began to look around.

Henderson was spotted in Miami this past weekend visiting the Hurricanes who also may have remained close to the top of his list when he signed with the Trojans earlier this year. In a public appearance at the time, he selected USC over Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Florida. But many close to the recruit feel OSU and UM were the top programs outside of USC for Henderson.

Lane Kiffin was hoping to keep his top rate 2010 class together but the lose of 5 Star Seantrel Henderson is disappointing for their football program. The coach and some of his staff flew to Minnesota to try to keep Henderson from departing but were not successful. Several upperclassmen have also left including Malik Jackson and Jordan Campbell. Players in their Junior and Senior years are able to transfer outside of the Pac 10 and remain eligible for the upcoming season, according to NCAA rules related to the sanctions.
