John Martinez Down to Three

John Martinez turned some heads at Ohio State’s senior camp on June 20th before attending USC’s and UCLA’s camps the next week.

Top Bench Press

Bench pressing 225lbs 25 times during a camp performance while running a 4.88 40 at 265 lbs, coaches will take notice. And that is what happened when offensive lineman John Martinez attended Ohio State’s recent senior camp. The Cottonwood Salt Lake City prospect has impressed coaches for a long time and told us about his on the field performance. “How I can move side to side very quickly is what makes me stand out and I'm starting to be more explosive coming off the line of scrimmage.”

He is a hard noised offensive lineman that can get up field and take on defensive backs and linebackers. He reported to us a hit that he made two years ago. “Last year as a sophomore I laid this safety out from the opposing team and knocked him out for at least 10 minutes. It was awesome.”

What He Thought

Martinez is a Top 100 prospect nationally ranked in the Top 10 offensive guards in the country. He is holding offers from all the best programs but made the trip to Columbus in June for the senior camp. “Yes I was at Ohio State’s camp. It was very competitive and hard work. I liked it a lot and I got to tour some of the campus and have met all the coaching staff in person.” He told us.

USC and UCLA Too

Ohio State’s camp wasn’t the last camp in June for Martinez. “I went to UCLA and USC later on the next week for camp and UCLA's campus was outstanding but USC's coaching staff was also amazing as well. I liked both schools very much.” He explained about his other two favorite teams. He told us his favorite three, “Ohio State, UCLA and USC.”

Martinez might be looking to get out of the West to an environment like the one Ohio State has to offer. “I am looking for good facilities, a good environment so I stay out of trouble, a good staff, and a place where I can strive as a person and as a football player.” He explained about what are his top priorities in selecting a college.
